City Construction Projects


Construction updates for the week of October 9

RDIA – Lining

This past week

  • IPR continued working on punch list items in several areas around town
  • Sub-contractor had traffic control and was set up on US-31 to complete punch list activities

 Upcoming week

  • Contractor plans to be back on site completing punch list work next week, no work to occur this week
  • IPR & sub-contractors will be working intermittently on US31 for punch list items for the next two weeks with traffic control


RDIIA – Conveyance

This past week

  • No work was done, still awaiting the tunneling to be completed

 Upcoming week

  • Start excavation for sanitary sewer once railroad tunneling is completed for Headworks building


RDIIB – Treatment Facility

This past week

  • Prepared and poured footings on the Northwest and East sides of the Headworks building
  • Poured the Headworks building finished floor
  • Completed grading sand for tank 1
  • Formed the footing walls for the slab on grade areas

 This upcoming week

  • Pouring the footing walls
  • Prepping for electrical and plumbing work
  • Putting stone in for tank 1 subbase
  • Continue prepping for bore and jack
  • Improving dewatering efforts around the bore and jack location


Riverbank Erosion & Riverwalk repairs

This past week

  • Completed placing stone in reach A and on the East end of the boat launch
  • Installed wooden guard rail and topsoil and seed in upper parking area
  • Opened the upper parking area
  • Opened the Riverwalk
  • Started spreading sand backfill in reach A

 Upcoming week

  • Painting handrail on the Riverwalk
  • Continuing spreading sand in reach A
  • Cleaning up around the site
  • Planning for curb and gutter in the entrance and exit drives


2021 Streets (Jackson, Van Buren, Jefferson, Eighth Street)

This past week

  • 5 feet of 8-inch water main with a new 8-inch gate valve installed on Jackson St
  • 5 houses were connected to the new 8-inch water main on Van Buren Street with new 1-inch copper water services
  • 6 houses were connected to the new 8-inch water main on Jackson Street with new 1-inch copper water services

 Upcoming week

  • Contractor to continue removing poor subsoils from Jackson & Jefferson Streets
  • Construct storm sewer and water services on Jackson Street
  • Grade Jackson Street between Washington and Jefferson Street and prep for aggregate base


Municipal Roofs

This past week

  • Inspected pump house buildings with City DPW, need to address some remaining items
  • Working with plumber and roofing contractor on the City Hall’s southeast drain leak
  • No roofing work was completed due to the weather

 Upcoming week

  • Coordinating with contractor on mobilization and scope of work for Firehall
  • Potentially start work on Firehall work depending on weather
  • Meeting with gutter contractor for City Hall, Water Works building and potentially Firehall


Municipal Marina Dock Replacement Phase II

This past week

  • Pre-construction meeting was held on Tuesday, October 5

 Upcoming week

  • Processing and reviewing shop drawings sent in by the Contractor
